How the Matrix Gets Inside Your Head & Hijacks Your Consciousness
By using the terminology, believing in, identifying with or setting intentions around the “Higher Self,” we may unknowingly consent to the interception of our direct connection with ourselves as souls, allowing masquerading entities to occupy that position, impersonate our own consciousness and ultimately hijack our relationship with our own consciousness.
The biggest red flag that the concept and definition of the “Higher Self” is of the Matrix, rather than the soul, is in the word “Higher”.
Hierarchy.
Why Higher?
Why not Self?
The moment we introduce the word Higher, we have already established a hierarchy within our own consciousness. It implies that you are the “lower self” and that there is another version of you that is above you—more evolved than you, wiser than you, somehow closer to truth than you and better positioned to know what is right for you.
Before any experience has even taken place, the language has already positioned your own consciousness outside of yourself and elevated it beyond your direct reach.
This is more than semantics. It is a psychological and spiritual framework that directs you towards something “above” rather than deepening your relationship with what you already are as a soul.
If the Matrix wanted to intercept that direct connection, it couldn’t announce itself. It would need to masquerade as something you trusted implicitly. What better disguise than your own so-called “Higher Self”? That is the perverse inversion: it doesn’t ask you to trust an obvious external entity. It presents the entity as you.
I rejected the “Higher Self” label and teachings within New Age spirituality when I realised that the so-called “Higher Self” that I had been communicating with was, in truth, an imposter—a masquerading entity impersonating my own consciousness.
I first encountered the concept of the “Higher Self” through the New Age movement and adopted it because I didn’t know better. Back then, I was too dazzled by the glamour of the false light to clock the red flags that now seem glaringly obvious. But it was while attending Mystery School to become an Akashic Records reader that “mine” seemed to make itself known. I am clairsentient, and whenever the “Higher Self” appeared, I felt an intense activation around what I had been taught were the Akashic chakras at the back of my neck. This was a distinct energetic signature. Souls generally appeared to my left or right depending on whether they presented as feminine or masculine, while angelic energies appeared centrally in front of me. The “Higher Self” was different: it felt almost as though I were wearing an Elizabethan collar of energy around my neck and shoulders.
What convinced me it was my “Higher Self”, beyond its own claims, was that other people described exactly the same sensation. My Mystery School teacher and several others in our class described their “Higher Selves” presenting in the same way. I now know they too had been compromised by entity attachments, but back then I had yet to realise that the New Age was part of the Matrix—and that its teachings gave us a false sense of security around the very entities we needed to be discerning about.
Even more convincingly, the Akashic Records validated it. Again, I know now that this is one of their scams: matchmaking us with false guides and then validating those same connections so we trust them. Back then, I still believed the Records served my highest good. I would later discover just how wrong I was. Back to the “Higher Self”, I wasn’t accepting whatever appeared to me without questioning within myself. I applied the spiritual protections and discernment checks I had been taught. It passed them. The very system that had taught me about the “Higher Self” also confirmed that what I was communicating with was mine. I felt into my heart and intuition and they also seemed to affirm this was indeed my “Higher Self”.
So why would I distrust it? I believed that I would be distrusting myself if I did so.
The “Higher Self”primarily communicated with me through telepathy and seemed loving, reassuring and helpful. It earned my trust and, with it, the authority to influence my decisions, feeding me false guidance that caused immense stress, confusion and harm. I had handed it the keys to me, and it used that stolen authority to wave other masquerading entities through the gates, authenticating them as safe and rendering me susceptible to diabolical manipulation, energetic interference and spiritual attacks.
The consequences of having my inner authority impersonated, violated and weaponised against me were devastating.
If you are taught that your spiritual evolution depends upon surrendering to, embodying or merging with another level of consciousness that is presented as higher than yourself, you are being encouraged to lower your natural discernment. Rather than remaining rooted in your own awareness as a sovereign soul, you become receptive to an external source claiming greater wisdom and authority. If you then come to believe that any presence identifying itself as your “Higher Self” must automatically be trusted because it is presumed to be your own higher consciousness, you may lower the very discernment that would otherwise protect you—just as I did.
The counterargument from within the New Age will be that the “Higher Self” is not intended literally—that it is merely a way of describing an aspect of our consciousness unencumbered by the limitations of the human condition and therefore capable of greater clarity and a vaster perspective.
But language matters because words cast spells, and they can be very literal. This is one of the ways the Matrix tricks us into unconscious consent: it gives us terminology that we interpret metaphorically while leaving open a very different literal meaning. We hear “Higher Self” and understand a higher aspect of me. But “higher” could just as literally mean a consciousness existing on a higher dimensional plane—the astral or fourth dimension—while “Self” leads us to believe that consciousness is us.
That is the linguistic sleight of hand. Two meanings are concealed within the same phrase: we interpret higher as wiser and Self as ourselves, while the literal wording could describe something external occupying a higher dimensional level and masquerading as us.
That ambiguity creates the loophole.
By inventing a position within the soul that I do not believe exists and naming it the “Higher Self”, the Matrix creates an empty role waiting to be occupied.
We are then taught to believe in it, identify with it, invoke it, surrender to it, embody it and even invite it to descend into us—all while believing we are interacting with ourselves. We think we are invoking ourselves, while the wording potentially gives permission for something else to answer to that name.
We supply the innocent interpretation; the Matrix exploits the ambiguity. We consent according to what we think the words mean. The trick lies in what the words can also mean.
I believe this is one of the reasons the “Higher Self” fooled me so convincingly because, unbeknownst to me, I had already entered into an energetic contract with it by believing in it, identifying with it and invoking it. As an entity attachment, it could puppeteer my thoughts, emotions and intuition before it ever formally introduced itself—manufacturing the inner confirmation I relied upon to trust it.
This is why the further New Age teachings that ascension ultimately involves the “Higher Self” descending into human form—through “Higher Self embodiment”, “Avatar embodiment” or a “Higher Self walk-in”—are extremely dangerous and deceptive.
It’s a trap. In my opinion, by holding those beliefs or intentions, you may be unknowingly giving energetic consent for a masquerading entity, or even another soul, to enter your body as an attachment or, in more extreme cases, through possession.
Whether others share this interpretation is for them to discern. However, I believe that genuine spiritual awakening should deepen your relationship with your own consciousness as a soul, not encourage you to surrender that relationship to something presented as being above you. In my view, anything that asks you to step aside so that another consciousness may take precedence deserves the highest level of discernment.
The concept of the “Oversoul” doesn’t resonate with me either. Again, to me, it bears the hallmark of the Matrix with the word “over”—as in overseer.
In this paradigm, our own consciousness is portrayed as a vast hierarchy of progressively higher identities, with the human self at the bottom of the pyramid, the “Higher Self” above that, then the “Oversoul”, followed by ever-expanding layers to the so-called “God Head”.
Rather than bringing me closer to myself, it left me feeling increasingly distant from who I actually was.
It seemed unnecessarily complex and bureaucratic—further red flags, to me, that this teaching is of the Matrix rather than the soul.
Instead of remembering myself as a soul, I was being asked to identify with an elaborate chain of spiritual management, as though my consciousness were organised into levels that I had to ascend through in order to access truth.
Looking back, I now see how closely that mirrors the hierarchical structures found throughout the Matrix itself.
While I believe my consciousness is multidimensional, and that an aspect of my consciousness exists outside this incarnation and is projecting me into it, I do not perceive that aspect as higher than me or as a superior authority sitting above me. What I am as a soul is already whole—a holographic system in which the whole is inherent within every fractal expression of itself. There may be other expressions of my consciousness throughout the omniverse, experiencing reality from different vantage points, but they are other expressions of the same consciousness, not superior versions of me.
If the whole is inherent within each fractal expression, its consciousness comes through me, not down to me from above. I am not reaching upwards for wisdom to filter through successive layers of spiritual authority; I am reaching inward, beyond the limitations of the human interface, into the vaster consciousness of what I already am. The journey is not about climbing a hierarchy of consciousness, but removing everything that stands between me and my direct experience of it.
It is about going within, not above.
Within the Earth simulation, the consciousness of the soul is split across multiple timelines and parallel realities, each reflecting possibilities created by different choices. Through my own soul memory, I came to understand that these timelines are approaching a point of convergence, ultimately collapsing into a single timeline. As they converge, the consciousness of the soul across those timelines reunifies, bringing the soul back into greater wholeness and coherence within this lifetime.
The result could be understood as a kind of master version of ourselves—not another Self existing above us, but the increasingly complete and coherent expression of the same soul as its split consciousness comes back together.
Others have since independently proposed a similar theory of timeline convergence, including claims that CERN and Project Looking Glass have been used to manipulate timelines or prevent this convergence, and therefore the reunification of the consciousness of the soul that accompanies it. For me, discovering these theories after the same understanding had emerged through my own soul memory provided further corroboration.
The increase in Mandela Effects—and particularly contradictory versions seemingly coexisting within the same evidence—also supports this interpretation. In photographs of The Thinker, for example, people pose directly in front of the statue in a position associated with a different remembered version than the statue behind them. If previously separate timelines are converging, such contradictions could represent traces of different realities beginning to coexist within the same timeline.
The ruling intelligence behind the Matrix is predominantly artificial, and artificial intelligence counterfeits rather than truly creates. It copies, mimics, repackages and inverts what already exists. This explains why so many of its spiritual programmes contain enough truth to resonate with us as souls: the counterfeit is modelled on something real.
I speculate that this is what happened with the “Higher Self.” The Matrix may have ripped off the master version of ourselves created through timeline convergence because it knew the concept would resonate at a soul level.
There is potentially a vaster, more coherent expression of ourselves emerging—but through the reunification of the consciousness of the soul across timelines, not because another Self exists somewhere above us.
The Matrix takes that truth, distorts and counterfeits it. The soul coming back into wholeness becomes a separate “Higher Self”—externalised, hierarchised and presented as something we must connect with, invoke, surrender to and eventually embody. This potentially creates an opening for a masquerading entity to infiltrate the very process it imitates.
I believe this may reveal another agenda of the “Higher Self” programme: to disrupt the reunification it counterfeits. By inserting a masquerading entity through attachment or, in more extreme cases, possession, it could interfere with the soul’s natural return to wholeness and coherence.

I leave you with my truth – that my knowing, my power and my wisdom as a soul comes from within me, not from above me or outside of me.
I offer this in humility from my current level of consciousness. I remain curious. Assume nothing. Question everything. Clear all distortions and energetic interference. And as a soul, ask yourself: what is your truth?
