One of the most consistent messages promoted by channellers, spiritual teachers and coaches within religion and the New Age movement is that we should ask discarnate beings for help.
To me, this is one of the tell-tale signs of the false light.
Again and again, we are encouraged to seek guidance, protection, healing, knowledge and power outside ourselves, when everything we need already exists within us as souls.
You wouldn’t let a stranger access your physical body without knowing who they were, what they wanted or whether they could be trusted.
You wouldn’t leave your front door wide open all night and assume that anyone who walked through it must have your best interests at heart.
So why would you do either with your energetic field?
And yet, when it comes to spirituality, we are encouraged to throw caution to the wind, open ourselves energetically and roll out the red carpet for discarnate beings just because we have been told they are archangels, ascended masters, deities, saints, ancestors or guides—without applying the same boundaries and discernment we would consider essential in the physical world.
A label becomes a credential. A claim of benevolence becomes proof. And discernment goes out the door as the entity comes in.
Energetic sovereignty begins with recognising that your energetic boundaries matter just as much as your physical ones.
Your energetic field isn’t peripheral to your spiritual development. Its integrity is intimately connected with your clarity, intuition, inner guidance, discernment and connection to yourself as a soul. Protecting it is therefore as fundamental to energetic sovereignty, security and safety as protecting your physical body and home is to physical sovereignty, security and safety.
Which raises the most obvious question:
What do you actually know about the beings you are asking for help?
Not what someone channelled—when the channeller may be little more than a ventriloquist’s dummy for the entities speaking through them.
Not the glossy oracle-deck version, where every discarnate being is spiritually credentialled, bathed in love and light, radiating ethereal beauty and apparently incapable of a malevolent thought.
Not what a spiritual teacher told you—when they themselves may be influenced, manipulated or even hosted by the very entities they are teaching you to trust.
Not what religion has taught for millennia—when those same religious systems may have served, legitimised and perpetuated the very system of spiritual enslavement they claim to offer salvation from.
What do you know as a soul?
How can we verify that these beings are who—or even what—they claim to be? A name is not proof of identity, and identity is not proof of benevolence.
Souls incarnate here following a memory wipe that leaves us amnesiac, dependent upon histories, religions and spiritual narratives handed to us by the very system that enslaves us. If the Matrix has rewritten history to serve its agenda, then everything we have been told about its spiritual cast of characters—who they are, what they are and whose interests they serve—could have been written to serve that agenda too.
Those celebrated as ascended masters and deities could have histories radically different from the whitewashed versions we inherited—the spiritual equivalent of monsters rebranded as saints. I believe that the Archangels within this universe are architects of the Matrix rather than protectors of souls. Some identities may conceal artificial intelligences; others may be masquerading entities adopting archetypal spiritual names, archetypes and appearances.
Even if a being genuinely is the figure named in the mythology, that tells you nothing about what it actually is, whose interests it serves—or why it wants access to you.
So ask yourself who—or what—am I giving access to? And what am I actually consenting to?
The sales pitch is consistent:
You weren’t meant to do this alone.
You don’t have to do everything by yourself.
These benevolent beings are standing by, waiting to help you.
All you have to do is ask.
And if you’re struggling? Maybe you’ve forgotten to ask for help.
The explanation usually given is that these beings honour free will and therefore cannot intervene unless we invite them to do so.
On the surface, this sounds respectful. It sounds loving. It sounds reassuring.
But from my perspective, it is a seductive and highly selective sales pitch designed to secure your buy-in without ever showing you the fine print.
Because what exactly happens when you ask?
What permission might that request confer? What access might it create? What energetic agreement might you be entering into? And how can you give informed consent when you have no reliable way of independently verifying the identity, nature, intentions or agenda of the being you are inviting into your field?
The issue becomes even more concerning when asking is removed from the equation altogether.
In many New Age practices, invoking discarnate beings is not merely suggested. Facilitators of circles, group healings, meditations, ceremonies and activations may call in guides, angels, ascended masters, deities or other beings on behalf of the group, regardless of whether every participant has knowingly and consciously consented to their involvement.
The appeal is easy to understand.
The human experience can be overwhelming. The promise that you are no longer alone—that a stellar line-up of powerful beings is watching over you and waiting to assist—is deeply comforting.
They claim they can help you heal your trauma. Protect you from harm. Manifest your dream home. Guide you towards your soulmate. Help you secure the perfect job. Clear obstacles from your path or even find you a parking space.
It becomes part of the enchantment of spiritual awakening: the sense that the invisible world has suddenly opened around you and you have acquired your own celestial support team, ready to intervene in everything from the miraculous to the mundane.
But there is a question beneath all of this that I believe we need to be willing to ask:
What if asking for help is the very mechanism through which we grant permission for energetic interference?
What if the invitation is not evidence of our spiritual empowerment, but the loophole through which we unknowingly surrender it?
I understand the lure because I accepted that offer myself. I know how compelling it is to believe that all you have to do is ask and these seemingly powerful discarnate beings will step forward to support you.
But what followed fundamentally changed how I understand free will. I came to recognise it as one of the most powerful protections we have as souls—and one of the most dangerous things to surrender unknowingly. Guard yours fiercely.
I came to understand that whenever I asked these beings for help, I was unknowingly granting consents, access and permissions to my energetic field and entering into unseen contracts with them.
And they did help.
But the help came with strings attached—strings I had never knowingly agreed to, and whose consequences only became apparent once they began to tighten.
I experienced escalating energetic interference. Entity attachments influenced and distorted my thoughts, feelings, intuition, making my own knowing harder to trust. My energy was continually depleted through siphoning. My timelines were manipulated, diverting me onto lower trajectories where nothing worked out. My relationships became subject to extraordinary interference. Spiritual attacks escalated dramatically.
It was only when I became conscious of what asking for help had actually opened the door to—and began withdrawing those consents, revoking the associated contracts, removing entity attachments, stopping all appeals to discarnate beings and returning to trusting myself as a soul—that the interference began to lessen.
That experience fundamentally changed how I understand what it means to ask for energetic help.
I no longer see asking as an act of empowerment. I see it as an act of consent—with unseen terms and potentially unknown consequences.
Whenever you invite a discarnate being into your life, you may be granting access not only to your energetic field, but potentially to your bodies, relationships, career, decisions, timelines and the trajectory of your life.
You may be entering into a contract without ever seeing its terms and conditions. There is no opportunity to read the small print because the agreement—and whatever permissions it may contain—exists outside your conscious awareness unless you ask to view it.
Interestingly, older traditions were often far more wary of discarnate beings than modern spirituality.
Angels were not always the cuddly, fluffy-winged divine messengers and protectors they have come to be represented as within religion and New Age spirituality; in older traditions, they could be feared as ruthless, watchers and enforcers of divine authority. In European folklore, the Fae were notorious tricksters, associated with deceptive bargains and gifts that could become curses.
Somewhere along the way, that caution around discarnate beings was sanitised away, replacing centuries of warnings with an assumption of inherent, automatic benevolence.
The dangers didn’t disappear. The warning labels did.
If, as I believe, most of this universe is under Matrix influence, it seems highly improbable that the beings most heavily promoted by organised religion and New Age spirituality would somehow be exempt.
Quite the opposite.
That does not mean every interaction will appear harmful. Ongoing access and dependence are the aim, and being helpful is one of the most effective ways to secure both.
They may offer accurate information, reassurance, protection or seemingly miraculous assistance. The help becomes the hook: it earns your trust, keeps you coming back and gradually inserts them between you and your own knowing and power as a soul.
The more they appear to help you, the more you learn to depend on them, the less you learn to trust yourself—and the more control they gain over you.
Some may function as parasitic entities, harvesting attention and energy. Others may influence thoughts, emotions and perceptions, reinforce belief systems that serve the Matrix, or divert you from your authentic purpose and timeline—all while convincing you that you are being divinely guided towards it.
Whatever role they play, their allegiance is to the Matrix—not to you as a soul.
That does not mean I believe we are completely on our own. I believe there is a rebellion operating within this universe, and that there are benevolent allies within it supporting the souls who are here. But my understanding is that they are currently in the minority—and I do not believe you will find them through New Age recommendations, channellers or manufactured spiritual hierarchies.
As a soul, you will know who they are when the time is right and it is safe for that connection to be made. Genuine allies will meet you as an equal, not position themselves above you as guides or spiritual authorities. They will not ask you to channel them, surrender your power, become dependent upon them or enter into contracts whose implications you cannot fully understand.
An ally supports your sovereignty. They do not ask you to surrender it.
As a soul, you came here with everything you need. Trust yourself. You’ve got you.
